If a flight for $39 sounds too good to be true, just wait until June 20! That's when Swoop Airlines, WestJet's new ultra low-cost carrier will start flying – with ticket prices of $39, $69 and $99!
Swoop originally offered their first 2,000 seats for $0 each, and, predictably, those sold out right away. But they just extended their second sale! Until Feb. 11, 2018, you can book one-way flights for as little as $39 CAD each! You can see a full list of their flight deals, but be warned: seats might sell out fast, and there's only a couple of days left to book!
Essentially, all you pay for is a base fare, which covers your seat and one personal item. Everything else – from priority boarding and seat selection to extra luggage – will cost you more.
So far, they're offering service out of Hamilton to Abbotsford, Halifax, Edmonton and Winnipeg. If you're looking to try them out for yourself, the $39 option is from Abbotsford to Edmonton, and there are $69 flights from Hamilton to Winnipeg and Edmonton to Abbotsford.
Blackout dates include June 28 to July 3, Aug. 2-7, Aug. 30 to Sept. 4, Oct. 4-9 and Nov. 8 to 13.
With Swoop (and similar low-cost airlines), you only pay for what you want. Don't need Wi-Fi on a short flight? Don't pay for it. Want to learn more? Check out Swoop's How it Works video.
So what do you think? How does a $39 flight sound to you?
