A few weeks ago, the Ontario Science Centre launched Sensory-friendly Saturdays, a new program full of events and activities specifically for young visitors with autism.
The centre partnered with the Geneva Centre for Autism to put together accessible, sensory-friendly events – and there's still one full day of programming left this month!
The final Sensory-friendly Saturday will happen on April 21 and will include things like chances to participate in live research studies, a tech showcase, a planetarium open house and KidSparks hands-on workshops. All programs are included with the price of admission or with an Ontario Science Centre membership.
The Ontario Science Centre and Geneva Centre for Autism also put out a booklet about what to expect when you visit different parts of the centre.
This isn't the first place we've seen events like this (Toys R Us Canada held a sensory-friendly shopping hour on April 8), and we're definitely hoping it's not the last! If you know of any coming up in Canada, let us know in the comments!
