RECALL: Neilson Partly Skimmed Chocolate Milk Due To Possible Listeria Contamination

Saputo Inc. is recalling Neilson Partly Skimmed 1% m.f. chocolate milk, sold in 4L bags, due to possible listeria monocytogenes contamination.

Because there have been illnesses reported from consuming this product, you will want to follow the protocol as suggested on the Government of Canada's Healthy Canadians website, which is to contact your doctor if you think you became ill from ingesting a recalled product. If you have the product in your home, either return it to the place of purchase or dispose of it.

After a foodborne illness sparked an investigation by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA), further lab testing and investigation will be conducted due to the findings of the investigation. Other products may be recalled and if so, the public will be notified though updated Food Recall Warnings.

Listeria monocytogenes may not look or smell spoiled, but they can make a person sick, experiencing symptoms such as vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache and neck stffness.

If you are pregnant, elderly, or have a weakened immune system, you are particularly at risk. Even if a pregnant woman experiences only mild flu-like symptoms, premature delivery, infection of the newborn, or even stillbirth may result. With severe cases of illness, people may die.
