Ford Motor Company has issued two safety recalls in North America for certain 2013- 2016 Ford Fusion and 2013 - 2015 Lincoln MKZ vehicles. They're being recalled as increased temperatures could cause the cables to separate, resulting in the seatbelts not working effectively.
There have been two accidents and two injured associated with this issue that Ford is aware of.
The recall involves 680,000 midsize sedans mostly in North America, including 35,614 in Canada. If you know family or friends who may be affected by this recall, share this info. with them so they can take appropriate measures if they are affected.
Affected vehicles include:
- 2013-15 Fusion vehicles built at Hermosillo Assembly Plant, Nov. 2, 2012 to July 31, 2014
- 2013 Fusion vehicles built at Hermosillo Assembly Plant, Aug. 13, 2012 to Nov. 1, 2012
- 2015-16 Fusion vehicles built at Hermosillo Assembly Plant, Aug. 1, 2014 to April 2, 2016
- 2015-16 Fusion vehicles built at Flat Rock Assembly Plant, Aug. 1, 2014 to Feb. 22, 2016
- 2014-15 Fusion vehicles built at Flat Rock Assembly Plant, April 12, 2013 to July 31, 2014
- 2013-15 MKZ vehicles built at Hermosillo Assembly Plant, Nov. 14, 2012 to July 31, 2014
Ford Motor Company Media Center has stated:
Dealers will inject a conformal coating into the front driver and passenger seat belt anchor pretensioner to protect the cables from increased temperatures generated during deployment at no cost to the customer.
Am I the only one who feels like I win every time Ford has a recall that doesn't affect me?
I've been waiting almost 2 years for my recall on my airbags. Good luck!
Most of the airbag recalls are on older 2000ish model, your stang is new. Are you sure there was a recall on your car?
yep. Sure was. I've called like 5 times and been told it's on back order.
They suck then, Honda did mine 18 months ago
Seatbelt recall least of Ford Escape problems.Mine seems to be having transmission problems.
you have a Ford right? Check and see if yours is on this list!
f150 rad support shouldb be a recall
@Sherry L.: If you have a Focus or Fiesta post-2011, you PROBABLY have a transmission problem. My employer-supplied Focus 2014 has already had the transmission repaired twice, the last time this week. It's a known problem and is covered by the warranty. They can test it at the dealer, apparently it's some kind of speed sensor that breaks and causes shifting to be erratic. I was eager to have it done before winter, because it really changes the way the car behaves in the snow (it's not the tires, as I thought the first winter).
