RECALL! Atkins & Frères Smoked Maple Syrup Salmon  Possible Listeria Monocytogenes Contamination

On June 16th 2016, a Class 1 Food Recall Warning was issued by Atkins Et Frères Inc. for Atkins Et Frères brand Smoked Maple Syrup Salmon, due to potential Listeria Monocytogenes contamination. A food safety investigation is being conducted by The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) which could lead to the recall of other products and they will notify the public through updated food recall warnings if this is the case.

There were no reports of illness from consuming the Atkins & Frères brand smoked maple syrup salmon. Distribution of this product was solely in Mont-Louis Quebec, Canada, at the Atkins Et Frères Inc. retail store between June 6 and June 12, 2016.

The UPC code of the affected product starts with 0 214128, and was sold in variable weight packages.

Consumers should not consume this recalled product. If you have ingested this recalled product and are are feeling ill, call your physician. Check this product brand name and upc codes carefully to make sure you don't have any in your home. If you find any of the recalled product it should be safely disposed of or returned to the store where it was purchased.

Food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes doesn't have to look or smell spoiled to make you sick with symptoms such as vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache and neck stiffness. Pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems are particularly at risk. Infected pregnant women may experience only mild, flu-like symptoms, but the infection can lead to premature delivery, infection of the newborn or even stillbirth. In severe cases of illness, people may die.
