If your teenagers are looking for something to do this summer, tell them to dig out their running shoes and head to the gym. Because, for the next few months, they can work out at Planet Fitness for FREE!
The Teen Summer Challenge program at Planet Fitness lets high schoolers between the ages of 15 and 18 work out at almost any of their locations across Canada and the United States between now and Sept. 1, 2019 at no charge. So you get them out of the house for a while, and they get something to do. It's a win-win!
Now, a standard Planet Fitness gym membership isn't exactly expensive. In Canada, it usually only costs you $10 a month to join and have unlimited access to your local club. But still, I'm not one to look a gift horse in the mouth. A FREE membership is just that much better! Now, your kids don't even have to ask for money.
There really is only one catch here, and it's that any teen who wants to take part in the program must sign up at their local Planet Fitness gym – and then that's the only fitness centre they can visit. So if you plan to travel this summer, I'd register at the location to plan to be near for the longest.
A parent or guardian must accompany every teen who wants to join and sign a waiver stated that they're able to work out at the gym alone. Any 18-year-olds don't need a parent to sign for them.
Oh, and there's one more thing. All teenagers who sign up for the summer program are automatically entered into Planet Fitness' Scholarship Sweepstakes, where one student from each province or state will be chosen to receive a $500 scholarship – and one lucky duck in Canada and another in the US will receive $5,000.
Looking to expand your options a little? GoodLife also runs a Teen Fitness Program all summer, where kids between 12 and 17 years old can work out for FREE during select gym hours between now and Sept. 2, 2019. So if you have younger kids looking for something to do, this one might be a better fit.
