Sales Cycles: Get the Best Deals in December

Sales Cycles: Get the Best Deals in December

I can't believe that we are already at the end of the year!  December is here and with a new month means new deals and a new monthly sales cycle.  This month the biggest event of the year happens and so most deals will be because of it.

Retailers count on shoppers spending a huge majority of their money in the month of December because of Christmas.  Although some people think ahead and buy items when they go on sale for gifts (following the sale cycles), some people wait until December to do their Christmas shopping.

Here is a look at the deals you will find this month:

Christmas/Boxing Day: Starting Christmas Eve, the biggest sales of the year will start.   In the States, Black Friday is actually the biggest sales day but for Canada it is Boxing Day.  You will find deals on almost everything both in the stores and online.  I prefer to shop online Boxing Day to avoid the crazy crowds and lines ups. Shopping from the comfort of your own home is a huge bonus.  Retailers know this, so every year we see more and more free shipping Boxing Day/Week offers.  This year I suspect even more.  Every year Bargainmoose has a Boxing Day dashboard with all of the offers in 1 spot for easy shopping.  We will start filling it up early so make sure to check back often.

Toys: One of the biggest sellers at Christmas is toys because let's face it, Santa is a busy guy!  There are going to be toys deals left and right because the stores know you want to get all of the latest things for your little ones.

Black Friday: I know what you are thinking... Black Friday was at the end of November.  You are right, but a lot of those Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals will carry on until the first week of December.  Electronics are a big one that will stay on sale so watch out for good prices on TV's, computers, and other Black Friday items.

Foods:  I don't normally include all of the food items and seasonal veggies and fruit, but I did want to mention a couple of things.  December is a month for baking, parties, and family gatherings so there are some items that will be at their lowest.  You will find items like baking supplies, gravy packets, boxes of stuffing, soups, cookies and party trays are at their lowest this month.  It is a great time to stock up on non-perishable items from these categories if you use them a lot throughout the year.

Furniture: You will see a lot of ads for "we pay the tax" or "don't pay until 2014" because furniture companies are trying to push out their furniture.  People's wallets tend to be strapped for larger items in December so those larger items will go on sale.

What kind of awesome deals have you found in the month of December?
