Make Spring Cleaning Easier This Year—8 Things You Need!

There are a lot of truly wonderful things about the start of spring. Unfortunately, for a lot of us, spring cleaning isn't one of them. Me, though? I kind of love it... really! For me the key is scheduling it all out so that I have enough time to spread it out and tackle it room-by-room. This way I don't feel rushed and overwhelmed. Another absolutely must for me at spring cleaning time? Fresh gear! May sound trivial, but learning a few new tricks and picking up a couple of brand-new tools and cleaners makes all the difference!

Here are eight spring cleaning items that just might help make cleaning a little more fun for you too!

1. Rubber Gloves
Not just any old rubber gloves... PINK rubber gloves! Pink happens to be my favourite colour, but find a pair of good quality and fun-looking cleaning gloves and I promise it'll make scrubbing those toilets just a little bit easier on you! Doesn't hurt that these happen to be on sale right now for 20% off.

2. Mr. Clean Magic Erasers
If you haven't already discovered the genius of the Magic Eraser, then this is definitely something you need for your cleaning kit! I have a 3-year-old artist whose favourite medium is marker on wall. Magic Eraser has come to my rescue more times than I can count!

3. Dyson Cinetic DC78 Animal
If you're a pet-owner you already know what a struggle it is to keep carpets and furniture clean. This vacuum is the answer to your lint-rolling dreams! Right now you can score one for $150 off. It'll be a game-changer.

4. Grout Scrubber
We've done quite a few updates to my home since moving in five years ago, but bathrooms and kitchen have yet to be tackled. This means that scrubbing tile and grout is a frequent and frustrating reality! I like to look at it as a great upper body work-out. This year, I'm going to try out this cool looking gadget, which not only promises to make this job easier, but is also a completely 'green' tool, right down to the bamboo handle with non-toxic coating.

5. Baking Soda
Easily the best $0.97 you'll ever spend! Baking soda is a natural and safe scrubber, deodorizer and all around amazing cleaning tool. I couldn't live without it! My favourite thing to use it on are drains. Using boiling water, baking soda and vinegar and you can unclog any drain, and deoderize at the same time. It's so satisfying! Get full instructions here.

6. Microfibre Cloths
If you've been cleaning without microfibre cloths, you're doing it wrong! I have one in every bathroom, under the kitchen sink, laundry room tub and tucked into computer desks and TV stands. They are the best tool you can have. Use them dry on screens for dust and fingerprints, damp on chrome for a brilliant shine, or for sopping up wet counters and spills like magic.

7. Wooden Clothes Pins
These wooden pins are a fun, kitschy kind of item that I feel are completely undervalued. First of all, they are adorable, am I right? Second of all, super useful in a million ways! Not just for hanging cloths, I use them to display kids artwork on a line I've hung on the wall, sealing open chip and cracker bags, organizing piles of mail or paperwork. Endless possibilities for such a simple and inexpensive item.

8. Bissel Steam Cleaner
Finally, if you're not cleaning with steam, this may be the time to start. Steam cleaning with a hand-held tool like this is a 100% chemical-free way to blast off goo and grime! That gunk around your sink faucets? GONE. That hard-to-reach place behind the toilet seat? SPARKLING. Can't live without mine!
