This DIY Easter treat has me excited! Are you ready to make some cute and tasty Rice Krispie Easter eggs for you and the kids? These are fun and easy to make, so you can do this with the kids this weekend or use the left over plastic eggs their sure to collect and make them anytime. Clean up can be a bit complicated, so be prepared to use some elbow grease. These are totally worth it though.
Here is what you're going to need:
- 3 tbsp butter
- 4 cups mini marshmallows
- 6 cups Rice Krispie Cereal
- candy coating bark or candy melts/white chocolate chips
- sprinkles
- plastic Easter eggs
- cooking spray
The directions are pretty simple. I'm sure we have all made Rice Krispies Squares at one point. Get a large sauce pan and melt the butter on low heat. Then stir in your marshmallows until they are completely melted. When all is melted together well, mix and remove from the heat.
Next add 6 cups of Rice Krispies and stir them well until they are all coated in the butter and marshmallow mixture. Take your plastic Easter eggs like pictured above and spray them with non-stick spray like "Pam". Fill both sides of the eggs with Rice Krispies and close 'em up. Let them sit for 10 minutes while they cool and set in the shape of the egg.
While they are cooling, melt the candy coating or candy melts according to their instructions. Remove the plastic from the cooled Rice Krispie eggs and dip the treats into the candy coating however you desire. Sprinkle them with sprinkles or sugar topping, let them cool off and dry—and voila!
