There’s good news for people who enjoy their daily cup of joe: you have a decreased rate of death than non-coffee drinkers.
Two new research studies have shown that male coffee drinkers are 12 percent less likely to die than those who don’t drink coffee at all. The data found that women are seven percent less likely than non-coffee drinkers to die.
This correlation applies to people who drink regular coffee or decaf. The findings don’t apply to those who put cream and sugar in their cuppa.
Both long-term studies measured coffee consumption among people in various countries and of differing backgrounds. Each found that coffee is linked to a decreased risk of death from digestive, circulatory and cerebrovascular diseases.
While more work needs to be done to figure out why this link exists, it should reassure those who love their coffee.
It’s definitely good news for me. I often feel guilty about my coffee habits. I’ll typically have one regular coffee and two decaf coffees a day. My favourite coffee is from Starbucks. I also like whatever I make with my Keurig or Nespresso machines.
How much coffee do you drink a day? What kind of coffee do you love most?
