Nothing lights up a room quite like a child's smile. And nothing should deter that smile from forming.
Unfortunately, dental problems at any age, but especially among children, can lead to closed-mouth smiles due to self-consciousness. Thankfully, programs such as Smiles 4 Canada can help. They arrange for orthodontic treatment for children whose parents are unable to afford the cost.
Smiles 4 Canada is a program run by the Canadian Foundation for the Advancement of Orthodontics and the Canadian Associations of Orthodontists. With this program facilitates orthodontic treatment for deserving children under the age of 14 who wouldn't otherwise be able to afford it.
The program is currently available to those living in BC, the Prairies, Ontario, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, PEI, Quebec, as well as Newfoundland and Labrador. Costs for this program are relatively small, with families of participants only being required to pay a small administrative fee, generally less than 10% of a complete course of treatment.
Mother Teresa once said, "We will never know all the good a simple smile can do". I couldn't agree more.
If you know someone deserving of orthodontic work, please apply by March 31, 2018. You can view the application criteria here.
