I go on mini-rampages where I deep clean the entire house. Last night, I did just that. While I was cleaning I tried to focus on many areas that I would normally overlook or forget about. I wrote them all down so that I wouldn't forget in the future, and I just had to share them with you! Now you can make sure you clean these places too.
1. Chair and Table Legs
I took a Lysol Wipe and did a wipe down of all the chair and table legs and bases in the entire house. This even included the sofa's feet. The colour of that wipe when I was done (I actually used about six wipes in total) was the true teller of how badly those areas needed cleaning. You can use whatever cleaner suits you best.
2. Under The Fridge & Stove (& Couches!)
I think I had a whole new dog from what I swept out from under my large appliances and couches. I actually pulled them all out so I could sweep and mop those impossible to reach areas. Thanks Swiffer! Have you heard of the Swiffer Sock Hack?
3. Shower Heads
We've told you how to clean a shower headbefore—but do you remember to do it on a regular basis? It will make a world of difference. Calcium can build up and is super hard to get off if you don't keep up on it. I often forget this area myself!
4. Toilet Bases
When you clean your toilet and toilet seat, remember to clean the back of your toilet and the base too. Bacteria can seriously build up on the base of that thing and you can easily clean it with your favourite bathroom cleaner or a white vinegar and water mixture.
5. Washer and Dryer
I am so guilty of forgetting to clean these. I mean, they get our clothes and sheets all nice and clean so I just figured they stay clean in the process. FALSE. You can buy a washing machine cleaner, or you can read this article on how to clean a washing machine with vinegar (which is definitely a more natural approach).
6. Lights & Fan Fixtures
I turned my ceiling fan for the first time in months the other day. We were showered with dust. YUCK! Get up there and wipe off your fan and light fixtures with a rag and your favourite cleaner.
7.Vents
How many Hot Wheels can you fit in a heat vent? About 12. I realized this when I took all the vents out to give them a wash. So after picking out all the Hot Wheels and Army Men from my vents, I took the actual vent caps and tossed them in the dishwasher. You can scrub them in the tub with a toothbrush or something too but that is way too much work for this mom.
Can you think of any other areas in your home that are often neglected when it comes to regular cleaning? We'd love to add them to this list, so let us know in the comments below.
Bed frames, window sills, curtain rods. If you have wire shelving too.
I don't get to do those. I also hate baseboards, on top of the fridge, top of cupboards and inside cupboards.
I miss being so neat before I had kids.....ugh
tell me about it! I wish it was feasible to hire a maid...
