Now that many stores are closed, businesses are finding new ways to get your orders to you. Of course, most places still let you shop online, but a surge in orders means your shipment will likely be delayed. You might be able to find what you need at a grocery store or somewhere else that's still open, but what about toys?
Luckily, you don't really have to wait or pay extra fees to have oversized items shipped to your door – as long as you have a Toys R Us in your neighbourhood. Like many retailers, the toy store now offers curbside pickup, where you place an order online and then head down to a physical location to pick up your items.
And in addition to getting your toys and games WAY sooner than you would through the regular mail system, there's one added perk to picking things up on your own. For a limited time, Toys R Us is giving away $15 savings cards to everybody who chooses curbside pickup! The same deal is also happening at Babies R Us.
Standard delivery right now means you'll receive Toys R Us orders within about 10 to 15 working days, but you can have curbside pickup fulfilled in approximately five hours. You can then use the savings card in stores (once they're back open) or online toward a $75 purchase. The full terms and conditions, as well as certain exclusions, are posted online, but know that you'll have between April 13 and May 31, 2020 to spend it.
And if you're not sure what to buy, I might have just found one of the most Canadian dolls out there. Barbie actually makes a Tessa Virtue Doll, which is perfect for all the young figure skating fans out there! It's on sale for $29.97 from $39.99, and since it's a Toys R Us exclusive, you likely won't find it anywhere else.
