Monitors on a tight budget are not too common on Bargainmoose, but I just found a great little deal. The Source Canada has discounted the Acer 22" X223W LCD monitor from $134.98 (regular price) down to $79.96. This is an open box model and comes with full warranty.
I think a clarification of terms is in order first. There is a big difference between display model, open box, and refurbished. Refurbished means the product had an issue and had to be sent back to the manufacturer to be fixed. Display models were used in store as display models. Open box items are generally when a box has been opened to show the product to a customer and when a box gets damaged in transit. The product inside is still brand new and comes with the full three year warranty (or one year warranty - The Source has two different warranty lengths written in different places). The warranty protects you from anything going wrong.
Here is a basic rundown of the monitor's features. The 22" TFT LCD screen provides crispt clear images. That screen has a 1680 x 1050 resolution and a 50000:1 contrast resolution. There is a 5 ms response time that will accommodate most movies you throw at it. There are both VGA and DVI (HDCP) Ports on the monitor as well. One reviewer said:
I got this item on sale, great for the price! screen is clear!
I could not exactly price compare this unit as I could not find it elsewhere in Canada. However, I looked at the cheapest 20 - 22" monitors on Best Buy Canada to get an idea. The only two deals that came close to this were:
- HP 20" IPS LED Backlit Monitor (20BW) - $99.99
- Dell 20" Widescreen LED Monitor (P2011H) - Refurbished - $99.99
Both the monitors are 2" smaller than the Acer and both cost an extra $20 premium. In addition, the Dell is a refurbished unit so it is not even new. On Walmart Canada, the cheapest monitor is an Acer K202HQL b 19.5" LED for $98. Given that the Acer from The Source costs less and is a bigger monitor, I think this deal is hot.
As the Acer monitor retails for over $25, you will receive free shipping to your home. I assume this monitor will set out quickly as The Source often has very low stock on their clearance items.
