I'll admit that I've had my doubts about Swoop before. I know people who have had both fantastic and horrible experiences flying with them, but I was officially sold when I boarded one of their planes for a trip to Orlando at the end of January. First, they were one of the only airlines offering a direct flight. And second, you just can't really beat their prices – especially when you book during something like this Spring Sale.
As they say on their website, you can "spring into action and save big with really cheap spring flights." And hey, that sounds pretty incredible to me! This is the last day of this 4-Day Spring Sale, and you have until 11:59 PM MT to book – unless seats sell out entirely before then. So you might want to hurry!
All the fares I saw are one-way tickets that let you travel from, say, Edmonton to Las Vegas. Prices start at just $39, and there are trips within Canada or from select Canadian airports to cities in the United States. All these flights (including one from Winnipeg to Los Cabos) are scheduled between March 23 and May 28, 2020.
Since Swoop is an ultra low-cost airline, you'll have to pay for those "extras" that are normally covered when you fly with, say, Delta or Air Canada. Every carry-on bag and checked suitcase comes with a fee, and you won't receive free drinks or snacks once on board. I'd suggest packing a water bottle and they fill it once you're past security, which got me through my five-hour flight. But one added bonus is that it's super cheap to upgrade your seat, so why not go for it? I sat at the front of the plane for both my flights back in January.
