One of my favourite things about LEGO is how they create new sets for different holidays. I can't count how many different LEGO versions of Santa's workshop I've seen over the years, and there's always something new around Valentine's Day and other special events – including Chinese New Year.
This year, the big day falls on Jan. 25, as we'll officially begin the Year of the Rat. We'll see celebrations across the country and world as people ring in the new year, and LEGO is joining the party, too. They recently launched an entire collection of Chinese New Year sets, all of which are available online now!
I'd hurry, because some of these creations are selling fast. The 1,664-piece Chinese New Year Temple Fair kit is already out of stock online, although you may still see it on the shelves of LEGO Canada stores. The product description, however, says it's only "temporarily out of stock," so it will hopefully be back soon.
In the meantime, you can pick up a Lion Dance set for $109.99. It's on backorder and will ship 30 days from now. This 882-piece collectible includes eight minifigures and traditional items you'd typically see at Chinese New Year celebrations. Oh, and there are FIVE dancing lions, too! It's intended for builders who are eight or older, but younger kids (and adults, too) can put together this BrickHeadz Lucky Cat for $12.99.
There's just one more thing you should know about before you place any orders. If you spend at least $80 before Jan. 26 (or before supplies run out), you'll receive a FREE Year of the Rat gift! It's a buildable, posable figure that comes with a podium and embossed money envelope – and he's pretty freakin' cute.
