If you are searching for some budget accommodation that won't break the bank, you could have a look at the hostel deals on Hostelbookers. They are currently having their summer sale, with offers of up to 40% off.
Above, I have linked to the summer sale page, which shows hostel offers from all over the world. However, if you're travelling within Canada, you might want to check out the Canada landing page only.
Some of the prices on there are super. If you're doing a bit of European travelling this summer, you can get rooms from $15 in Amsterdam, rooms from $23 in Barcelona, and rooms from $8 in Berlin. Very cheap indeed!
I'm going to be honest - as an adult, I've never stayed in a hostel, even when I spent a year travelling round Australia. I have vague recollections of certain hostels on teenage school trips, but I've never actually voluntarily stayed in one. To date, it's always been campsites or hotels. And as I've got older, the hotels have been of increasing luxuriousness. But in saying that, I know that there can be some pretty great quality hostels around the world, as travelling friends tell me. But as I now have a 2 year old in tow, I cannot imagine that I'd start using hostels at this stage. To me, they're for young travellers really.
What about you? Are you a fan of hostels?
