Future Shop is totally blowing my mind with their price on the Turtle Beach Ear Force DXL1 Dolby Surround Sound Gaming Headset for Boxing Week. Ignore the 'savings' as it is horribly inaccurate and check out my price comparison below. Future Shop has this Turtle Beach headset that retails for $100+ on sale for $29.99.
They have the same deal at Best Buybut the expiry dates are different. You can get this deal at Future Shop until the end of the year while Best Buy's deal ends tonight.
I price compared this unit because the 'saved' price at Future Shop is way out to lunch. Here is what the competitors are actually selling this headset for:
- $99.95 @ The Source Canada (backordered)
- $127.77 @ Amazon Canada
- $136.79 @ Staples Canada
Oh yes, this Turtle Beach gaming headset is quite the deal. While it is designed for the Xbox 360, it IS compatible with the Xbox One, a PC/MAC, and even a PS3/PS4 with a small adapter cable - consult Turtle Beach's website for more details. Since most people will purchase this to use either with their Xbox or with PC, I have included the PC hookup instructions to be your guide:
There are plenty of image tutorials on how to connect this headset to other gaming consoles as well.
One of the primary selling features of this headset is the DSS2 surround sound processor, which retails for $79.99 alone on Amazon.ca. Essentially, the headset and the surround sound processor are cheaper than buying the processor alone.
The headset also features:
- 20 Hz - 20 kHz frequency response
- In-line amplifier
- 50mm speakers
- separate volume controls
- Positionable microphone
Essentially, you will enjoy the immersive experience of 360-degree surround sound blasting through these speakers while being able to differentiate the sounds from chat windows (etc) and keeping them at a lower level.
Amazon.com has many reviews for the headset with most of them being positive. One reviewer concluded his lengthy review saying:
Overall, this headset is amazing. After having high-end headsets, I really think they don't really compare to this. I paid $70 for this here on Amazon. You really can't beat the price for this wired headset. If you're looking for a nice, comfortable headset with great sound; look no further.
Well, if he paid $70 USD for the headset and thought it was an unbeatable price, you really should snap it up for only $30 CA with free shipping.
