Coming up in just three short days is a pretty great free event all across Canada. It is called Free Comic Book Day. On May 3rd, you will be able to walk into your local comic book store and get a free comic book.
There is no purchase necessary to get your free comic book, and most comic book stores across North America will be participating, whether they are big or small. The stores will be the ones choosing which free comics you will be able to get.
Last year, there was a list of 44 different comics you could choose from in your local stores for free. This year there are 57 different books to choose from. You will be able to get one to ten free comic books, depending on the store, and there is a good variety of comics for kids that are young to adults that are young at heart.
This is a great family event to head in for to get kids interested in reading. I know a lot of little kids that really don't like to read, but love comic books. Comics are a great starter type of reading for kids because they are fun and colourful. Right now the new Spiderman movie is coming out, which has always been a very popular comic book series. You can get the Spiderman 2: Bleeding Cool as one of your choices which is sure to be a popular one.
The stores may differ for when their hours are, so make sure to phone ahead just to be sure.
