Okay, so maybe our technology isn't quite where people expected it might be in 2019. We don't have robot maids like Rosie from The Jetsons, after all – but we do have something that comes pretty close.
iRobot, the company behind the Roomba vacuum cleaners also makes mops ... and that pretty much sounds like a dream come true to me. I mean, who wouldn't want to kick back and relax while a ROBOT mops the kitchen?! They have a few different models out in Canada, and you know one's going on my Christmas list.
While it looks like they're all regular-price everywhere right now, you can usually find the best deals at Best Buy – and there's a pretty good chance all of the models will usually be in stock there. These robots do occasionally go on sale, so we'll keep an eye out for any discounts coming up before the holidays!
If you're looking for something a little more basic, the iRobot Braava Jet 240 Mopping Robot is for you. It sells for $249.99 at full-price and has a precision jet and vibrating cleaning head to break up the most stubborn of stains. You can use it on hardwood, stone and tile floors. It even fits around the toilet and below cabinets!
The step up, a iRobot Braava 380T Floor Mopping Robot also works on vinyl and laminate, and it sells for $329.98. It uses a dry mop to scoop up loose dust, dirt and hair, then a damp cloth to mop up surface dirt and grime. It can clean up to 1,000 square feet in a single cleaning cycle – which means you don't have to.
And if you really want to go all out, the iRobot Braava m6 Robot Mop is a pretty futuristic cleaning machine. For $699.99, it connects wirelessly to your smartphone, so you can control the robot and dictate where and when it runs. It even automatically recharges when its battery is running low and then resumes cleaning!
Boy we are sure a lazy bunch
