Though the classic children's story The Velveteen Rabbit (originally published in 1922!) is traditionally a Christmas tale, this story of a toy rabbit given to a little boy as a Christmas gift is also a perfect book for Easter when bunnies, toys or otherwise, are so very top of mind!
My 8-year-old loves this beautiful story, she and I have read it countless times and both of us get a little teary with each and every reading. This is a story about the power of love and friendship, a message that's wonderful to share with your kids all year round, but especially fitting at Easter time. Think of it as way to share something that's a little more heartwarming than chocolate eggs! (But whatever you do, DO NOT forget the chocolate eggs!)
