Dell Canada: TrendNet 5-port Gigabit GreenNet Switch Only $16 (was $35)

Dell Canada has the TrendNet 5-port Gigabit GreenNet Switch (TEG-S50G) on sale for $15.99, when it was originally $34.99.

There are several different models of these, so for price comparison you need to watch the model number (which I included above).

I price compared this unit with a few stores to make sure this was a good deal. The TrendNet TEG-S50G is $28.99 + $9.99 shipping @ Newegg.ca, $27.99 + $14.25 shipping @ Tigerdirect.ca, $29.99 + shipping @ Canada Computers, and $34.93 @ Amazon.ca. You can easily see that Dell is absolutely rocking this deal at $16 with free shipping.

This little gadget is a five-port switch, which not only provides high bandwidth when you need it, but also reduces energy consumption by up to 70%. That is why it is a "GreenNet" switch: for the environmentally conscious office or just for the office that is trying to cut expenses. It is also a great tool for a home office that carries multiple users. Rather than have a switch with high-energy consumption, spend $16 and get a good switch that will save you money in the end.

As an added bonus, the switch is made of metal, thus it is durable and should stand the test of time and abuse. Just try not to wheel a chair over it (while you are in the chair). There are a couple product reviews and both are very positive. Here is the latest review:

This switch will automatically detect connection speed, and doesn't discriminate over cable type (cross/straight thru) since it has auto MDIX. I was VERY pleasantly surprised by the quality. This one and the 8 port often go on sale so if it does, scoop it up!

I checked out the reviews on Amazon.com because they tend to be the biggest database of product reviews you can find. On there this device has 650 reviews with 4.6/5 stars. People absolutely love the device and most the comments say that it "just works," "requires minimal setup," and they have never needed to reset the router. I am jealous because I end up resetting my router several times a month: it is so lousy.

While Dell says that they are temporarily out of stock, you can still order this device and it will be shipped as soon as it comes back in stock. So do not be surprised if there is a bit of a shipping delay: it is just such a good deal we could not resist posting about it.
