If you need a base model computer, this is the unit for you. The Dell Inspiron 14 3000 Series laptop is on sale from $338.99 down to $289.99.
This is a base model laptop designed to handle your everyday computing needs at a price everyone can afford. The computer comes with:
- Intel Celeron Processor N2840 (up to 2.58 GHz)
- 2 GB memory
- 500 GB hard drive
The computer includes the following slots: HDMITM 1.4a, USB 3.0 (1), USB 2.0 (2), Kensington lock slot, and Media Card (SD, SDHC, SDXC). I would not have thought it before, but my media card slot is one of the most used slots on my computer aside from the USB slots. I think three is a good number of USB slots as I often fill them all up. One slot for my phone cable, one slot for my mouse, and the other slot connects to my external hard drive when I am backing my computer up.
On top of the sale price for this basic laptop, you receive three additional benefits.
$15 back with Dell Advantage
As I have mentioned before, deals at Dell are even better than they seem. With the Dell Advantage program, Dell customers receive 5% back on purchases of $100 or more. This takes the form of a Dell ePromotional card. You can then use the code on this card against your next purchase. After the additional $15 back with Dell Advantage, your laptop will have actually cost you approximately $274.99. Promo cards expire after 90 days.
Free Upgrade to Windows 10
I am not sure what happened to Windows 9, maybe someone miscounted. However, your computer will come with Windows 8.1. Then, when Windows 10 is released later this year, your computer qualifies for a free upgrade to the newest operating system. While a price has not been set for Windows 10, speculators are saying it will go the way of subscription base, like Microsoft Office 365, and are thinking it will be around $49.99 per year. Others think it will remain for purchase and are estimating $119.99, which was the price for Windows 8.1 standard and Windows 8 standard.
Free Shipping
All items at Dell Canada ship free of charge, so there will be no additional charges there.
I figured this was a rather sweet little laptop deal. I decided to see what the competition was selling for laptops around the same configuration. At Best Buy, I found this ASUS 15.6" Laptop - Black (Intel Dual-Core Celeron N2840 / 500GB HDD / 4GB RAM / Windows 8.1) priced at $329.99. It has the same processor and same size of hard drive, but the memory is a bit bigger. Given that the ASUS does not qualify for an extra $15 back or for the free Windows 10 upgrade, I figure that Dell's offer (which is already cheaper), is a solid deal.
