Starbucks is committed to doing a little good for Earth Day this year and reducing waste. On April 22nd, you can walk into a Starbucks Canada and receive a free brewed coffee or tea up to 16 oz. free. You must bring a reusable cup to take advantage of this freebie. Starbucks is promoting their new reusable cup that only costs $1, but you can bring in any reusable cup or mug for this promotion. Starbucks also mentions that any modifications are not included in this freebie. Drat, guess I will have to pay extra if I want them to drop a shot of espresso in my drip coffee. :)
My experience with these promotions from Starbucks is that often the smaller Starbucks kiosks such as those inside stores or at the airport do not participate in these promotions. On their website, Starbucks states that the offer is good only at participating Starbucks locations. You may want to check with your local store to make sure they are participating. Chances are good if you have successfully participated in any other Starbucks freebies at your location, they will be involved in this promotion also.
If you prefer Starbuck’s fancier coffees, do not overlook the little stand where you can add cream and sugar. Starbucks always has a nice array of various flavoured sugars you can add to your coffee. If you have never tried them, add a little chocolate or vanilla sugar to your freebie to jazz it up.
If you are a regular at Starbucks, you can bring that coffee mug with you all the time. Starbucks also offers 10 cents off the price of your drink every day if you bring your own mug. While not a huge savings, those dimes can add up if you frequent Starbucks.
For additional savings, consider joining Starbucks’s loyalty program if you are not already a member. Through this program, you earn stars for every drink you purchase. You will receive a freebie food or drink offer in the mail after registering, plus a free drink on your birthday. If you earn five stars in the first 12 months, you will receive free refills in store on brewed coffee or tea. Starbucks will also send you various promotions and freebies that are only for members.
