You've probably all heard of Pi Day and Star Wars Day, but this was a new one for me. It's Mario Day at Best Buy Canada, and if you don't get the joke right away, don't stress. It took me a minute, too. But, basically, if you spell out today's date in certain fonts, it looks like MAR 10 ... you know, like Mario.
So besides this cool coincidence, why should you care? Well, stores might not have capitalized on this "event" the same way they do with Star Wars Day, but Best Buy is hosting a sale that's worth checking out, especially if you have a Nintendo Switch. All day long, select games and accessories are marked down!
Prices start at $19.99 for a handful of Nintendo Switch games, including Super Mario Party. You can pick up a copy for $49.99 from $79.99 and save it away for the kids' Easter baskets ... or start playing it yourself! I also saw it for the same price at EB Games and The Source, so you can check there if Best Buy sells out.
And while it's not a Mario accessory per se, this is also your chance to buy a Nintendo Switch Pro Controller for just $69.99, instead of the usual $89.99. It means you don't have to fuss around with Joy-Cons when you really want to get serious, and it's a lot more comfortable to hold for long periods. Orders over $35 ship free.
