I'm going to be straight up honest with you fine people because I love you very, very much. I know almost nothing about photography. I've picked up some stuff from photographers I know but I'm not overly knowledgeable. One thing I do know is that when Canon released it's Digital Rebel back in 2003 (I feel old...), everyone went banana sandwich over it. It was the first sub-$1000 DSLR. Since then camera people the world over have been in love with Canon DSLRs. I prefer Nikon, but I have no reason to prefer Nikon so you can ignore me completely.

Editor's Note: This is a great camera for those wanting to wade into the DSLR pool of photography. Most of the lenses that you can buy for it will work pro DSLRs as well (check packaging) so rather than replace everything down the road when you want to get more serious, you could simply replace the camera body. I highly recommend this camera.
