I found out about a really awesome program and wanted to share it with you! If your child is in grade four or five, they can participate in this SnowPass. For $29.95, you'll get the SnowPass, which gives your child three lift passes each for every participating ski or snowboard area - and there are many!
My oldest son is in grade four and luck be have it that this was the year I was putting him in snowboarding lessons. He has shown an interest in it for some time, but honestly, cost was holding me back. Skiing and snowboarding are probably one of the more expensive extracurricular activities a child can participate in. Sure, you can get used equipment, but the lift tickets and the lessons are mega-expensive. This SnowPass literally solves that problem for us. He'll basically get to go out about once a week for a total of only $30, and then he'll get to do it all again next year.
What's really great is that by the time he is in grade six, we'll know if this is something he truly wants to pursue and I don't mind paying for the lift tickets.
There are quite a few areas (over 150) that they passes can be used at, all over Canada, with the majority being in Quebec, British Columbia and Ontario, which makes sense.
What you need to do is apply, and you only need to apply once and your pass is good through grade four and five. Simply fill out your application at the link above, then you'll mail it in, along with a photo (similar to a passport photo) that is 2x2 inches and a copy of their birth certificate or report card.
The Canadian Ski Council who does these passes is a not-for-profit organization and your $29.95 is an administrative fee. Your pass will come within 5 to 10 business days, but if you want it sooner, you can get it via XpressPost for an additional fee.
Moosers, how many of you have used this pass and love it? Tell me in the comments below!
