Back in November, Walmart had the Roku 1 on sale for just $10 at Walmart. That was a phenomenal price drop and as it turns out, was a massive error that was quickly corrected as well. Nonetheless, if you have been eagerly waiting for another similar price drop, then this deal from Best Buy and Future Shop is perhaps the best one that we're going to see for a while. Anything can happen, of course, but if you have been wanting to get this useful device, then now is as good a time as any.
So what exactly is the Roku 1? It's a media streaming player that provides access to over 450 channels with over 150,000 movies and TV shows. Plus, you can even use your smart phone as a remote with their handy app -- you know, for those times that the remote falls on the floor and you're too lazy to pick it up? ;)
Wondering what hockey has to do with the Roku? With it, you can also stream tons of sports live like NHL GameCenter, MLS live, UFC and more.
If you're not very techy and are worried about running into difficulties setting the Roku up, then you will be happy to know that it's super easy to install, as evidenced by this review:
Surpasses my expectations....Easy to set up, great sound, good image quality...Good product for the price.
One the biggest negative comments with the Roku is with regards to the Canadian content. It's a media streaming device that is US-based, which then expanded into the Canadian market and as such, they are still in the midst of adding content. This reminds me of the negative feedback that the Canadian Netflix has generated over the years and yet, even it has significantly improved. So the way I see it is that the Roku is definitely worth getting on sale, especially since it's sure to only get better and better.
